Active Therapeutic Movement
| |
The ATM is a critical link in our advanced treatment and rehab system that is designed to alleviate pain and restrengthen an injured body part. A movement with pain (such as forward flexion or bending backward) is typically due in part or in totality to a central nervous system disorganization/dysfunction resulting in an intrinsic muscle group impairment. The central nervous system is not firing the muscle group correctly resulting in imbalance and chronic pain and flareup. With the ATM system , we stabilize the area in which you are having pain, then have you perform painfree repetitions of that movement in the same direction of what was once a painful and dysfunctional movement direction. This begins a process of retraining the central nervous system to inform the brain that this movement should be allowed without pain. Once the pain is gone, we can begin strengthening the injured area, which, in turn, re-stabilizes/strengthens the area to minimize any chance of reinjury. Results are seen after the very first treatment with less pain and a significant increase in range of motion. We find that most disc related neck and back conditions and chronic difficult to treat conditions also have an associated cns/muscle impairment complex that must be addressed and resolved to achieve desired therapeutic outcome.
